Photo & Media Release Policy

The Children’s Gallery Chicago (TCGC)

At The Children’s Gallery Chicago, we celebrate creativity by sharing stories and images of our programs with the wider community. We take the privacy and safety of our participants—especially children—very seriously.

Consent & Permission

Children under 18: A parent or legal guardian must provide written consent (signed Media Release Form) for use of their child’s image, video, or voice in connection with studio-based programs, classes, or workshops.
For community art pop-ups (festivals, open events, and public activations), TCGC staff may request and record verbal consent from parents or guardians due to the fast-paced nature of these gatherings.
Adults over 18 may provide written or verbal consent for themselves, though written consent is preferred when possible.
Consent may be revoked at any time by contacting TCGC in writing, after which TCGC will make every effort to discontinue use of the image or recording in future materials.

How Media Is Used

With consent, photographs, video, or audio recordings may be used by TCGC for:

Program documentation and reporting to funders.
Printed materials such as flyers, newsletters, and brochures.
Digital communications including our website, social media, and email updates.
Local news coverage or partnerships that highlight our programs.

Images and recordings are always used in a way that respects the dignity and identity of participants.

Opt-Out Option

We honor all requests from families or participants who do not wish to be photographed or recorded. In such cases, staff will provide a “no photo” indicator (such as a wristband or badge) during events and will ensure media of these participants is not used.

Data & Storage

All media files are securely stored by TCGC and are not sold, traded, or shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
Access to media files is limited to authorized TCGC staff and contractors.
